Altar Linens

Volunteers launder, starch, and iron altar linens.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers assist the priest during liturgical celebrations.  Boys and girls who are in grade six through young adults are eligible to serve as Altar Servers. Boys in grade nine through young adult are trained as Senior Servers.

Acolytes directly assist the priest during Mass by holding the Missal, preparing the altar, and performing other duties. The acolyte position is open to young men who have been Confirmed and are at least 16 years of age.

Environment Committee (Flowers)

This committee arranges the flowers and decorates the church for Sunday Masses and all liturgical celebrations.

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion distribute the Eucharist to members of the congregation gathered at Mass.  All active, Confirmed parishioners who are in good standing with the Church and, if married, married in the Church, are eligible for this ministry.  Special training and certification is required.

A reader is a lay person entrusted with proclaiming the Scriptures during Mass.  It is expected that they will spend time in preparation through prayer and reading the Scriptures.  This ministry is open to active, Confirmed adults and high school students who are in good standing with the Church and if married, married in the Church.

The Greeter apostolate is part of our hospitality at St. Mark. Greeters are comfortable talking to strangers and love to make our community feel welcoming and inviting by standing at the doors of the church before Mass to hand out the Liturgical Ministry Sheets and greet people as they arrive.

Music Apostolate

The Music apostolate of St. Mark Parish exists to honor God through music and serves the parish by encouraging and supporting the active participation of the faithful in worship.

Ushers greet people warmly as they arrive for Mass, invite people to bring up the offertory gifts, assist with seating, take up the collections, distribute the bulletins after Mass, and tidy up the church after Mass by putting up the kneelers, organizing the hymnals, and picking up items left in the pews including the Liturgical Ministry sheets.
