After having first received the sacrament of Baptism, Christian Initiation continues with the receiving of the sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) and First Eucharist (Communion). Preparation for these two sacraments are traditionally given in the Second Grade, at about the age of 7 or 8. This is in accord with the policies of the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Classes are directed by the Pastoral Staff and are taught by our catechists. Classes are open to all registered families of St. Mark Parish.
Whether your child is enrolled at St. Mark School, public school or homeschooled, you will need to register your child with the Office of Faith Formation in order for your child to be able to receive these sacraments.
Parents are highly encouraged to attend supplemental parent meetings prior to the celebration of these sacraments. The first parent meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18th at 6:30 pm in Sullivan Hall. Please download the class registration form (found towards the top of this page) and bring it with you to the meeting or drop it off at the parish office; attention: Laurie McCloskey. As part of the Sacramental Prep program, we encourage parents and their children to attend Family Formation Sundays on the first Sunday of each month.
It is our belief that parents are the first and foremost educators and witnesses of the faith. St. Mark parish is here to assist you as you journey with your children through the preparation process.
Please contact Laurie McCloskey at the Parish Office with any questions or for further information: 206-364-7900 or [email protected].
